Internet has been very sporadic at night when the team returns and prepares for tomorrow, so updates have been difficult to do on a daily basis. Overall, the last two days have been filled with time spent with the kids in the barrio and in the public schools. It is amazing how public schools will allow Christian to come in and share and have a fun time with the kids, what a blessed opportunity. The team visited two public schools on Monday (after the feeding in the barrio) sharing the gospel through the musical presentation and sports and other fun activities.
Yesterday was a tough time at the hospital where we visit the children being treated for cancer. Only a small amount of visitors are allowed at a time, so some will go inside, while others stay outside in the courtyard and play with family members and then they switch. Toni played worship for most of the day in spanish and english as adults and kids listened and at the end, the whole team performed the musical presentation of the Gospel for everyone outside.
As much as we visit the hospital yearly, it's never easy to see children suffering with illness. We are reminded that we are there to bring them a time of smiles and laughter, and the real hope of Jesus Christ to kids and parents, praying for them and encouraging them in the Lord.
Hopefully we can post some photos tonight. Thank you for your prayers, apart from some minor stomach issues, the team is doing great!
The morning began with a trip to Hosanna church, where we took part in the worship portion of the service. We then spent the afternoon at the bluebird farm, where disabled adult men live and work. We painted a Bible verse on the wall, Romans 3:22. The main room was very dirty with dust from the area, and we spent a large portion of our time there cleaning. There was also valuable time spent with the men there. We were able to share our gospel songs, and many of the men fully comprehended the message! We finished the day packing small bags to hand out to the kids at the school we are visiting tomorrow.
Day two: Today, we went into the barrio to do an outreach. We played with the children, performed our musical skit, shared the gospel, then did face painting, ballon animals, and handed out sandwiches. It was a great time of meeting new children and fellowship with one another. They love to play soccer and challenge us "gringos" to a match of Nica vs. USA. They crushed us today. The kids also love talking, hugs, and taking pictures. They are such an encouragement to all of us. It was hard to say goodbye.
After the barrio, a few of the team members decorated for Yadifel and John's wedding. The ceremony was held in the banquet hall at our hotel. It was a truly special event, as Yadifel was a large part of the team last year, and has grown up with the Loures family by her side. We continue to pray for opportunities to reach the children here and really show Gods love through our actions
Starting in the Newark Airport, the Team flew to Miami, finally landing in Managua, Nicaragua. The first day we spent a few hours playing with the children in the barrio. Then for the rest of the day, the Team visited the Bluebird House, painting trees and playing with the children. Even though we faced a few hiccups, the Team has been experiencing God's sovereign plan, in which we are able to grow stronger in our walk with Him.
Tomorrow begins our missions trip to Nicaragua with the youth group from Grace Bible Church. This is the third year they are returning to encourage, build up and reach out to the children and people of Managua. Follow along this week as we come alongside of several ministries and missionary Lincoln Wright. Read daily as we post updates, photos and other ways that you can pray for the team as they serve in the mission field of Managua!
